Single calendar and sync

Listing the same property on multiple channels — your site and other portals — multiplies visibility and bookings, but without a synced calendar the risk of double booking is very high. Two guests for the same dates means refunds, stress and bad reviews. The solution is a single source of truth that updates across all channels whenever someone books or you block dates.

One calendar as source of truth

There is one calendar (or a system that aggregates several) that represents the property's real availability. When a guest books on one channel, those dates must become unavailable everywhere. The same applies to dates you block manually. Every channel must receive updates from this single source, with an acceptable delay (ideally 5–15 minutes).

How sync works: iCal and channel managers

Many portals expose calendars in iCal format. A channel manager like Krossbooking imports these calendars, merges them and pushes updates back to all channels. Ensure two-way sync. If cleaning takes time, consider a one-night buffer between guests. If a double booking is already confirmed, act immediately: offer alternative accommodation or a full refund to limit damage to your reputation.

  • One source of truth: The calendar must be unique. When someone books on one channel, dates are blocked everywhere.
  • Krossbooking and iCal: Services like Krossbooking aggregate calendars (iCal) from other portals and sync them with your site or other portals. Always ensure sync is active and delays are acceptable (usually a few minutes).
  • Blocking rules: Set clear rules: arrival and departure nights blocked, and any buffer between guests for cleaning.
  • Regular checks: Once a week verify that blocked dates on your site match the other portals.

Domrentals supports Krossbooking integration: one calendar for your site and portals, zero overbooking.
